I'm A Woman. Let Me Tell You What We Want

What do women want? The age old question any man will give an arm and a leg to get the answer to.

But oddly enough, most women want to know as well. There's this stereotype that women do not even know what they want. Or so I have heard.

What exactly our dreams, our goals, our aspirations and our fears are as women, are the deep secrets we keep in our hearts. We are usually afraid because when we bare them, it makes us naked.

The veil over these emotions are usually the clothing we rely on for strength of being.

Yes, I am woman. I feel fear, I feel anxiety,  I feel uncertainties, I dream dreams, I have aspirations.

These may be different from woman to woman, but let me educate you on some universal female truths:

1. Every woman wants to be a princess. Yes. She might not have a regal ancestry, but she wants that 'princessy' feeling. Ever heard of daddy issues? Exactly!

She wants to be beautiful, she wants nice clothes and shoes. She wants a beautiful castle, she wants a life straight out of the pages of a Disney story.

That thickness and hardness you see on the outside of women, that's the very much required shell used to protect the princess inside.

2. Every woman wants a prince.
Not just any man, a prince. Who knows all her weaknesses and loves her even more. Who she can be vulnerable with and not have to suffer for it.

She wants him to open doors for her, to walk on the busy side of the road, and to tell her she's beautiful.

3. Every woman is afraid. Yes she is. She has fears, just like every man. She's not that different. Fear of failing, fear of heart breaks, fear of not reaching her goals, fear of not doing enough, fear of not finding her prince. Yes, that too.

But it is from springing out of these fears that amazons are born.

4. Every woman has at least 2 things about her body she wishes were different.

Personal trainer, beauty queen, model and regular girl on the street alike. Her nose, her tighs, her arms, her voice, her chin, her cheek, her laugh, her snort, her belly... just something.

5. Every woman wants a trusted girl friend.  Anything otherwise is a result of fear, betrayal of trust or lack of confidence.

6. Every woman wants to be successful. She hates it when people assume she gets concessions because she is a woman. She wants to prove she's a person, not just a woman. She does not want you to tell her her driving is bad simply because she is a woman. She wants the right to success as a person not just as a woman.

Dear female, the more you hide your true feelings, the more the feelings become a trap. The more you're honest with them, the more they become a member of your body.
Wear your fears, but dress them up with courage. Love your imperfections, forgive betrayal and trust again. Believe you're a princess, it's not a naive point of view. Desire a prince and expect him, it's not a crazy fairy tale thought.

Anticipate that the best things will happen to you. And when they don't, get back up and keep anticipating. We've been hurt bruised, broken, and torn. But that is not who we are, that's simply what HAPPENED to us.

Who we are is that little girl who likes dolls and princess clothes. The girl who believes she deserves the love of daddy and who was never afraid to look in the mirror.
